Beschreibung

Martin Ellingham beendet nach einem traumatischen Erlebnis seine Karriere als Chirurg und wird Hausarzt in dem Fischerdorf Portwenn. Schon bald stellt der unter einer sozialen Phobie leidende Ellingham fest, dass die Dorfbewohner nicht nur in seine Praxis kommen, wenn sie krank sind: Martin will morgen die Praxis schließen und nach London gehen. Doch dann kollabiert eine Freundin von Louisa, weil sie toxische Dämpfe eingeatmet hat. Ihr Mann ist Taxifahrer und fährt die schwangere Louisa ins Hospital ...
