    31. Oktober 2000: Eine Boeing 747 der Singapore Airlines bereitet sich auf den Start vom Chiang-Kai-shek-Flughafen in Taipeh vor. Doch der Flug 006 steht unter keinem guten Stern: Ein verheerender Taifun droht in Kürze Taiwan zu erreichen - und der Crew bleiben nur wenige Minuten, um abzuheben und sich vor dem heraufziehenden Sturm in Sicherheit zu bringen. Doch auf der Startbahn verliert der Pilot plötzlich die Kontrolle über das Flugzeug. 83 Passagiere kommen in den Flammen qualvoll ums Leben. "Mayday - Alarm im Cockpit" rekonstruiert die Katastrophe und ihre Ursachen.
