Mackenzie "The Mick" Murphy hat keine Lust auf Arbeit oder Verantwortung und flucht und raucht ständig. Doch dann haut ihre reiche Schwester nebst Gatten vor den Strafverfolgungsbehörden ins Ausland ab. Ihre drei Kinder lässt sie dabei zurück. Nun muss sich Mick um ihre altkluge Nichte Sabrina, ihren arroganten Neffen Chip, den sensiblen Nerd Ben und das Anwesen in der vornehmen Gegend kümmern: Chip schießt auf vermeintliche Einbrecher und muss erkennen, dass sich seine Eltern ins eigene Haus geschlichen haben ...
